Two-and-a-half sunrises in gold and silver at the RC Harris waterworks left me feeling re-energised after a couple of weeks of other commitments and heavy rain days. It never ceases to amaze that at sunrise there are enthusiastic people who want to enjoy the miracle of daylight in its raw splendour or even masked by cloud.
The mulberry tree at the west end of the waterworks is heavy with berries ripening and making a sweet mess on the sand as they drop from the branches. They are a little feast for human and beast.
On warm humid mornings, it is often much cooler by the water than further into the city. It is a refuge for those who need to escape the heat.
I observe that people are there at such an early hour for a number of reasons including walking dogs, meditating, wedding engagement photography, fun photography, enjoying a cup of coffee, and swimming (even on icy mornings in winter).
There is always something to see on the beach, in the bluffs, around the city, even on the greyest of mornings.
I am looking forward to participating in a vendor market fair1 in Birchcliff tomorrow while my photo exhibit hangs in the library around the corner from it. Grateful for community in all my neighbourhoods!
